![]() Stormwater runoff is a key contributor to flooding and erosion in urban runoff. ![]() Finally, a case study will be demonstrated to demonstrate a reasonable stormwater design and management practice. Performance indicators will be used to evaluate management systems at three specific design stages. This paper will review urban stormwater runoff components and treatment systems based upon the literature. ![]() Water management plans can also be developed to meet specific design objectives and permit regulations. Assessment of the various sources of runoff can be performed to develop a design whereby the runoff is reduced and appropriate treatment systems are included in the system. By understanding these components, designers can then specifically target the primary contributors to stormwater runoff before it is introduced into the system. Changing weather, human form, and design practices all contribute to stormwater runoff. An understanding of the flow and delivery of stormwater begins with a study of the surface runoff and stormwater they contain. Infrastructure for managing stormwater is an important component of any major urban project.
