![]() ![]() Apple will not allow the update to certain processors of your computer's generation. If the Apple Store allows you to update to Sierra that OS will run on your machine. My fear is that I inadvertently make the machine slower and less usable by upgrading the OS. But as to whether it will impact performance, they are silent. I need to find out whether upgrading to latest OS would slow down the machine or not! The machine is currently running 10.10.5 Yosemite. Thanks for the pointers, these are very useful. The solid state drive can be upgraded if you or they choose. If the family member is not going to use it for heavy duty stuff it should suffice. Has moderated difficulty at least its not glued.
